NASA Dragonfly Spacecraft
Dragonfly, a NASA New Frontiers mission, is set to break new ground by sending a robotic rotorcraft to Titan, Saturn's largest moon. This mission represents a historic first – the deployment of an aircraft on Titan's surface, aiming to achieve the maiden powered and fully controlled atmospheric flight on any moon. Its primary goal is to unravel the mysteries of prebiotic chemistry and the potential for extraterrestrial habitability.
What sets Dragonfly apart is its vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capability, which will allow it to effortlessly traverse between various exploration sites on Titan. This moon is an astronomical marvel, boasting an exceptional combination of attributes. It harbours an abundant, intricate, and diverse carbon-rich chemistry on its surface, all within a world dominated by water ice and featuring an internal water ocean.
