NASA Mars InSight Lander
NASA Mars InSight Lander
The NASA Mars InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy, and Heat Transport) Lander, a groundbreaking mission launched on May 5, 2018, represents a significant leap in our understanding of the Red Planet.
One of its primary objectives is to study the interior of Mars, providing insights into the planet's geophysical processes, including seismic activity and heat flow. InSight's sophisticated instruments, such as the Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure (SEIS) and the Heat Flow and Physical Properties Package (HP3), allow it to detect Marsquakes and measure the planet's internal temperature.
In addition to its scientific pursuits, InSight plays a critical role in understanding planetary formation, providing valuable data on the evolution of rocky planets like Mars and Earth.
