NASA LADEE—Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment
The Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) was a NASA mission launched to study the Moon's exceedingly thin exosphere, as well as the enigmatic lunar dust environment. LADEE aimed to uncover the lunar exosphere's composition, density, and variations and investigate the sources and behaviour of lunar dust.
LADEE was equipped with a suite of scientific instruments, including spectrometers and dust analyzers, enabling it to collect data and monitor conditions in the lunar exosphere. Additionally, the mission examined the Moon's enigmatic dust, a vital but poorly understood element of lunar exploration.
By advancing our understanding of the Moon's exosphere and dust environment, LADEE contributed to lunar science and paved the way for future lunar missions.
